I wants to take a break from acting and ‘focus on starting a family, Says Tom Holland

His latest Spider-Man film may be set to break box-office records. But Tom Holland has revealed that he might be “ready to say goodbye” to the friendly neighborhood superhero.

In an interview with People, the 25-year-old actor opened up about his career, saying he wants to take a break and start a family.

The third (and perhaps final) installment in his Spider-Man series No Way Home premiered on Monday. Holland has played the beloved web-slinging hero since 2015.

But now it might be time to bid farewell to his red and blue alter-ego.

“I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ve been so grateful to Marvel and Sony for giving us the opportunity and keeping us on and allowing our characters to progress. It’s been amazing,” he told People.

“I don’t want to say goodbye to Spider-Man — but I feel like we might be ready to say goodbye to Spider-Man.”

Holland took over the role from Andrew Garfield, who inherited it from the original on-screen Spidey Tobey Maguire. Now, Holland thinks it might be time someone more diverse stepped into the red and blue suit, saying that he doesn’t want to hold back a new actor that deserves it just as much as he did.

“I would love to see a future of Spider-Man that’s more diverse — maybe you have a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman,” he said. “We’ve had three Spider-Mans in a row; we’ve all been the same. It’d be nice to see something different.”

As well as thinking about what’s best for the character, Holland – who is dating his co-star Zendaya – is also ready to focus on his personal life.

“I’ve spent the last six years being so focused on my career,” he said. “I want to take a break and focus on starting a family and figuring out what I want to do outside of this world.”

The actor added that he can’t wait to be a dad, saying he loves kids so much that if he wasn’t an actor, he’d probably be a schoolteacher instead.

But even if this is his swan song to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s unlikely Holland will be off our screens for long. As well as starring in an upcoming Fred Astair biopic, he’s also set to appear alongside Mark Wahlberg in the 2022 action-adventure film Uncharted.

Spider-Man: No Way Home hits cinemas this Friday.
