The Marsai Martin-led film Fantasy Football has added Kelly Rowland, Rome Flynn and Omari Hardwick to its cast–Shadow and Act has learned.
From Nickelodeon and Awesomeness Films, the film is set to debut on Paramount+ later this year. The film is also from LeBron James’ The SpringHill Company and Martin’s own Genius Entertainment. It begins filming this month in Atlanta. NFL Films and EA SPORTS™ have also signed on to provide “expertise on various aspects related to the film’s production.”
The film follows “16-year-old Callie A. Coleman (Martin) who discovers she can control her professional football player dad, Bobby Coleman’s (Hardwick) prowess on the field through EA SPORTS Madden NFL.”
Rowland will play Callie’s mother and Flynn is Bobby’s rookie arch-rival.
The film is directed by Anton Cropper and written by Dan Gurewitch & David Young, based on an original screenplay by Richard T. Jones & Jeremy Loethen and Tim Ogletree.
Cropper said in a statement received by S&A, “I am so excited to be working with such a talented and supportive group. Fantasy Football is a culmination of the adrenaline of the NFL and the fun of EA SPORTS Madden NFL, with the heart of a father-daughter relationship. As the father of a teenage daughter, I can’t wait to sit down and watch this with her. It’s everything a great film is supposed to be!”
Other cast members include Elijah Richardson as Nate, Hanani Taylor as Kayla, Abigail Killmeier as Margot, Tyla Harris as Zoey, and Isac Ivan as Oliver
The film is produced by SpringHill’s LeBron James, Spencer Beighley & Jamal Henderson and Marsai Martin and Joshua Martin of Genius Entertainment.
Carol Martin and Jamila Jordan-Theus serve as executive producers for Genius Entertainment.
This will be to enter production from Awesomeness and Nickelodeon Live-Action EVP Syrinthia Studer after The J Team, starring and executive produced by JoJo Siwa and upcoming film Honor Society starring Angourie Rice and Gaten Matarazzo
