A Drunken Excuse Gone Wrong

A man’s heavy drinking habit had reached a breaking point, prompting his wife to issue an ultimatum: “If you come home drunk again, I’m leaving.” But that night, he found himself at the pub, indulging in one too many drinks.

As he stumbled out, his shirt stained with vomit, he confided in a friend, “If I go home like this, my wife will leave me for sure.” His quick-thinking friend offered a clever solution: “Put a twenty-pound note in your jacket pocket and tell her someone threw up on you, then gave you the money for dry-cleaning.”

The man took his friend’s advice and returned home, hoping to deflect his wife’s anger. But as soon as she saw him, she was furious and threatened to leave. He swiftly pulled out the twenty-pound note and spun the tale of the considerate stranger.

His wife’s skepticism turned to curiosity as she reached into his jacket pocket, only to find not one, but two twenty-pound notes. “Why do you have two?” she asked, her voice laced with suspicion.

The man’s hasty response sealed his fate: “Oh, the other one is from the guy who shat in my pants.” His attempt at deception had backfired spectacularly, leaving his wife incredulous and his dignity in tatters.
