Heartbreak has once again struck the Parton family with the passing of David Parton, Dolly’s beloved brother. David, 82, passed away peacefully at his Tennessee home on November 15.
David’s sister, Stella, shared the news on social media, remembering him as a kind, compassionate, and devoted man. She fondly recalled his service in the U.S. Marine Corps and his successful career as a bridge-building superintendent.
David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kay, daughters Donna and Dena, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His siblings, including Dolly and Stella, also mourn his loss.
The family will hold a funeral service at Leadvale Baptist Church on November 19, followed by burial at Dandridge Memorial Gardens.
David’s passing comes after a string of losses for the Parton family. His brothers Larry, Floyd, and Randy, as well as their parents, Robert and Avie Lee, preceded him in death.
Randy, a talented singer and songwriter, passed away in January 2021 after a battle with cancer. Dolly remembered him fondly, highlighting his contributions to her music and their cherished duets.
Floyd, a multifaceted artist and outdoorsman, died in December 2018. His obituary celebrated his many talents, including his songwriting credits for Dolly’s hits.
The family’s faith has been a source of comfort during these difficult times. Dolly previously expressed her gratitude for their faith, believing it brings solace and reassurance.
As the Parton family navigates this latest loss, they find strength in the enduring legacy of David’s love, generosity, and devotion. His memory will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him.
The Parton family’s statement thanked Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice and Dr. David McNabney for their care and support during David’s final days.
Though grief surrounds them, the Partons remain steadfast in their faith and cherished memories of their beloved brother, David.
