My grandmother had set up investment portfolios for my brother Liam and me when we were kids. She wanted to give us a head start in life. Liam, who was 16 at the time, cashed out his portfolio and bought a brand-new Honda. I, on the other hand, was just four and didn’t touch mine. As I grew older, my portfolio grew, and I invested wisely. Liam, however, struggled financially and often came to me for help.
Over the years, I bailed him out multiple times, covering his rent, car repairs, and even an unpaid loan. Each time, he promised it would be the last time, but the pattern continued. One night, I confronted him about his financial struggles, and he simply shrugged it off, saying he needed one big break to get back on his feet.
Then, one evening, Liam’s girlfriend Madison showed up at my doorstep, demanding that I share my portfolio with her and Liam. She claimed that our grandmother had intended for the investments to be shared equally between us, even in the future. I refused, and she threatened me with a fake lawsuit. But what she didn’t know was that I had already consulted with a lawyer, and we were ready to take action.
It turned out that Madison was not a lawyer, but a legal secretary who had forged the letter and inflated her job title. The lawyer I consulted laughed when I read him the letter and said that Madison’s actions were fraudulent. He forwarded the letter to her law firm, and she was fired on the spot.
A few days later, Liam and Madison came to my doorstep again, this time begging for money. Liam’s usual confidence was gone, replaced by desperation. I refused to help them, and they left empty-handed. The next morning, I found that all four of my tires had been slashed. I called the police and reported the incident, naming Liam and Madison as suspects.
My lawyer was thrilled when I told him about the vandalism. He said that we had Madison on record making legal threats against me, and that this was an open-and-shut case. I was done playing nice, and I was ready to take action. Liam and Madison had underestimated me, and now they would face the consequences of their actions.
