The community is mourning the loss of 18-year-old Sienna Stewart, who passed away unexpectedly at her high school graduation ceremony. Sienna’s courageous journey with cardiomyopathy and a heart transplant at age 8 inspired all who knew her.
Despite her health challenges, Sienna lived a fulfilling life for 10 years before her condition worsened earlier this year. She experienced collapsing episodes, but her determination and spirit never wavered. On May 23, 2024, Sienna’s final collapse occurred during her graduation ceremony.
Paramedics were on the scene, and her mom, Saevon Chum, arrived to find the ambulance already there. Sienna briefly regained consciousness, insisting on attending the ceremony instead of going to the hospital. “She just wanted to graduate, to walk,” Saevon recalled, “because she missed her prom due to hospitalization.” Sienna achieved her goal, receiving her diploma, but sadly passed away on June 12, just weeks later.
Her obituary revealed her plans to study sonogram technology in college. The community remembers Sienna as a brave and inspiring young woman who faced adversity with remarkable strength. Her mom, Saevon, expressed pride in Sienna’s resilience, saying, “You have to be proud. I was proud until the end.” Rest in peace, Sienna Stewart. Your courage and spirit will never be forgotten.
