Country singer Ingrid Andress, who performed the national anthem at the 2024 Home Run Derby, has announced she is entering rehab. Andress admitted on X that she was intoxicated during the performance and is seeking treatment.
MLB spokesperson Matt Bourne did not comment on the situation. Andress’s a cappella rendition at Globe Life Field had noticeable voice cracks. At 32, Andress has released two studio albums and written for artists like Charli XCX and Bebe Rexha. Her upcoming shows in Nashville and Denver have been canceled, according to CNN’s Lisa Respers France.
The Home Run Derby, a major MLB All-Star week event, saw Dodgers’ Teoscar Hernández win against Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr. with a score of 14-13. This announcement has brought attention to Andress’s personal struggles amid her career.
