Sixteen-year-old Korben White, aka Miss Frou Frou, made headlines with his dazzling prom attire – a fiery red skirt paired with a sequined tuxedo top matching his vibrant hair. His bold fashion statement ignited a social media frenzy, garnering both praise and criticism.
Korben’s journey began at 12 when he shared his dream of wearing a gown to prom with his mother, Nina Green. Four years later, with Green’s unwavering support, Korben’s vision became a reality.
Inspired by American actor Billy Porter, Korben’s outfit combined a tuxedo top with a flowing dress, embracing his feminine side. As he arrived at Archbishop Sancroft High School in Harleston, Norfolk, staff and students applauded his confidence.
Green beamed with pride, “Everyone has been very supportive… If you let your child be who they are, you’ll get nothing but the best out of them.” Her viral tweet showcasing Korben’s look garnered millions of interactions, including a nod from RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage.
While many shared stories of their own gender-bending children and offered support, others expressed disapproval. Green remained steadfast, ignoring negativity and advocating for acceptance.
At London Pride, Green and Korben continued to spread love and acceptance. Green hopes their story will inspire others, “I really hope it will help others be more accepting… and let proud parents feel they are not alone.”
Korben’s courage and Green’s unwavering support serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of embracing individuality and self-expression. As the world continues to evolve, Korben’s story sparks essential conversations about identity, acceptance, and the unbreakable bond between parent and child.
