Richard Gere Bids Farewell to Connecticut Estate

Acclaimed actor Richard Gere has sold his stunning Connecticut estate for a whopping $10.95 million, PEOPLE reports. The 75-year-old actor is relocating to Spain, marking a new chapter in his life.

Gere purchased the New Canaan property in 2022 for $10.8 million, acquiring it from singer-songwriter couple Paul Simon and Edie Brickell. Interestingly, they had originally bought the estate for $16.5 million, taking a substantial loss.

The majestic 1938-built estate boasts six bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a pool, lush gardens, and a three-bedroom guest cottage, sprawling across 32 acres. Gere and his wife, Alejandra Silva, 41, called this property home for two years, initially considering converting it into a farm.

Now, Gere is trading the American countryside for the Spanish landscape. His decision to move abroad stems from a desire to be closer to his wife’s family in Spain. This relocation marks a significant change for the couple, who have resided in the United States since their 2018 marriage.

As Gere embarks on this new journey, the sale of his Connecticut estate signifies a bittersweet goodbye to a chapter in his life. This will be Gere’s third marriage, and his love story with Silva continues to unfold in their new Spanish home.
