Christina Applegate Opens Up About Her First MS Symptom

Christina Applegate, the talented actress known for her role in Netflix’s Dead to Me, has been open about her struggles with multiple sclerosis (MS). In a recent episode of her podcast, MeSsy, Applegate shared the first symptom she experienced while filming for the show.

Applegate recalled a scene where she had to run through a field, but ended up falling over. At the time, she and the show’s director, Liz Feldman, attributed her clumsiness to exhaustion. However, Applegate now realizes that this was an early indication of her autoimmune condition.

Feldman remembered Applegate losing her balance on set, but noted that it was difficult to determine the cause. “It seemed completely reasonable that anybody would be collapsing,” Feldman said, given the long hours they had been shooting.

Applegate’s diagnosis with MS in 2021 came as a shock, but she has been open about her experiences and how the condition has affected her life. The production team of Dead to Me was supportive and adapted her scenes to accommodate her declining mobility.

Applegate expressed her gratitude towards the team, saying that their humanity and kindness were exceptional. “That would not happen anywhere else,” she said. “My gratitude toward you guys being humans… is, like, I can’t even tell you.”

Applegate’s story highlights the importance of awareness and support for people living with MS. Her openness and honesty have helped to raise awareness about the condition and its effects on daily life.
