Christina Applegate Opens Up About Five Unusual Symptoms She Ignored Before Her MS Diagnosis

Christina Applegate, the star of the hit Netflix series Dead to Me, has been open about her struggles with multiple sclerosis (MS) since her diagnosis in 2021. In recent interviews, Applegate shared five unusual symptoms she experienced before her diagnosis, which she initially ignored or brushed off as minor issues.

One of the earliest symptoms Applegate noticed was a tingling sensation in her toes, which started in early 2021. At the time, she didn’t think much of it, but looking back, she realizes it was one of the first signs of MS. This symptom was soon followed by muscle weakness, which Applegate experienced while filming a scene for Dead to Me. She recalled falling while running across a field, which she now recognizes as an early sign of MS.

As time went on, Applegate began to experience other unusual symptoms, including a lack of balance. While filming a dance sequence for Dead to Me, Applegate found herself struggling to stay balanced, but she brushed it off as frustration with herself rather than a potential health issue. It wasn’t until later, when she was diagnosed with MS, that she realized her balance problems were a symptom of the disease.

Applegate also experienced sharp pains and aches, which she described as intense and debilitating. She recalled waking up with pain in her feet, which was so bad she couldn’t even walk. The pain has since intensified, making everyday tasks like picking up her phone or opening bottles difficult.

Finally, Applegate experienced discomfort in her eyes, which she initially googled and discovered could be a symptom of MS. She described experiencing strange sensations in her eye, which made it difficult for her to sleep. Looking back, Applegate wishes she had paid more attention to these early symptoms, but she hopes that by sharing her story, she can raise awareness about MS and help others recognize the signs of the disease.
