A fishing trip turned into a nightmare for two fishermen on Lake Emory in North Carolina. Mark Wilkins and his friend were kayaking on the lake when they stumbled upon a dead body floating in the water.
At first, Mark thought it was a Halloween prop, but as he took a closer look, he realized with horror that it was a real person. He immediately called 911, and his frantic call for help was captured on camera.
The footage shows Mark coasting along the lake, chatting with his friend off-camera, when he suddenly spots something suspicious in the water. “Oh my god, a dead body,” he exclaims, before quickly calling the police.
On the phone with the 911 operator, Mark explains how he and his friend had been kayaking down the lake when they saw a hand sticking out of the water. He describes the body as decomposing and says he’s not sure if it’s a prank or a real person.
Mark’s friend, John, also chimes in, saying that he thinks it looks like a person, possibly a girl. Mark then says a prayer, asking for the person’s soul to rest in peace.
The discovery was a shocking turn of events for the two fishermen, who had started their day like any other. Mark later uploaded the footage to YouTube, saying that he wanted to share it for educational purposes. He also sent his prayers to the family of the deceased woman.
The Franklin Police Department launched an investigation into the discovery, but so far, few details have been released. The police have not identified the woman or determined the cause of death.
