In a Ukrainian hospital, a baby boy named Dima was born, but his life took a dramatic turn when his parents abandoned him. The reason behind their decision was Dima’s unusual appearance and health issues that arose shortly after birth. Despite the medical staff’s best efforts, Dima’s parents wanted nothing to do with him.
After spending some time in the hospital, Dima was transferred to an orphanage for children with disabilities in Eastern Ukraine. The orphanage provided him with the care and attention he needed, but Dima’s condition was a significant challenge. He suffered from hydrocephalus, a chronic condition characterized by an abnormal buildup of fluid in the brain. While this condition can be controlled with proper treatment, there is currently no cure.
Fortunately, many people with hydrocephalus are able to lead normal lives with minimal limitations, provided they receive early treatment. However, Dima’s progress was slow, and by the age of four, he was still unable to walk or feed himself. The staff at the orphanage were concerned about his development and worked tirelessly to provide him with the care and support he needed.
