In today’s world, it’s not uncommon for marriage vows to be taken lightly. However, Delta Burke and Gerald McRaney are a shining example of what it means to be truly committed to one another. With over three decades of marriage under their belt, they’ve faced their fair share of challenges and triumphs.
Gerald McRaney was immediately smitten with Delta Burke when they first met. Despite knowing he had competition due to her reputation, McRaney was determined to win her heart. They quickly connected, and on their second date, he proposed to her. Two years later, in 1989, they tied the knot, and McRaney was overjoyed to have finally married the love of his life.
Although McRaney had been married twice before, he was determined to make this marriage work. Some of his friends had doubts about their future together, but McRaney and Burke’s shared experience in the entertainment industry helped them understand and support each other.
One example of their unwavering support for each other was when Burke cheered McRaney on as he accepted a Primetime Emmy for his role in “This Is Us.” They celebrated each other’s successes together, and McRaney valued Burke’s opinions, especially when it came to his acting career.
In 1998, Burke faced a series of personal losses and health challenges that put their marriage to the test. She struggled to cope with the loss of her grandmother, her mother’s breast cancer diagnosis, and her own weight gain due to hypoglycemia. After a series of misdiagnoses and ineffective treatments, she was finally diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Throughout this difficult period, McRaney stood by her side, providing unwavering love and support, even helping her with her insulin shots.
Burke credits McRaney for his unwavering love and support during the toughest times in her life, which helped her overcome her health challenges. Despite the obstacles they faced, the couple remains committed to supporting each other’s health and well-being. McRaney is even considering collaborating with Burke again in the future, while Burke is currently in better health and has no plans to return to the entertainment industry.
Although they don’t have any children together, they’ve devoted their lives to raising McRaney’s three children from his previous marriages. Their strong bond continues to demonstrate the power of love and dedication in marriage, even as they prepare to relocate to central Florida.
