Lucy had recently moved in with her son Connor and daughter-in-law Eve, after losing her beloved husband Ron. She wasn’t ready to live alone just yet, so she was staying with them until she felt more settled. As a token of gratitude, Lucy had arranged for the rent from her own house to go to her son, who worked long hours as an IT technician.
At first, everything seemed perfect. Eve was kind and attentive, taking care of the household chores and cooking meals. Lucy was happy to help out, but Eve insisted she didn’t need to. However, as time passed, Lucy began to notice a change in Eve’s behavior. She was no longer as kind and considerate, and instead started giving Lucy orders and treating her more like a servant than a guest.
One day, just before Christmas, Eve told Lucy to do the laundry, go grocery shopping, and prepare dinner for nine guests. Lucy was taken aback by Eve’s tone and realized that she had become a maid in her own son’s house. She decided to teach Eve a lesson, but not before showing her that she was still capable of doing great things.
On Christmas Day, Lucy cooked up a storm, preparing a delicious feast for the guests. As they sat down to eat, the room was filled with praise for Lucy’s cooking. Eve was shocked and impressed, and for the first time, she saw Lucy in a different light.
As they cleaned up after dinner, Eve approached Lucy and apologized for her behavior. She realized that she had taken Lucy for granted and that she had been wrong to treat her like a servant. Lucy forgave Eve and explained that she was old and her knees weren’t what they used to be. Eve promised to be more considerate and helpful in the future.
From that day on, Eve made a conscious effort to change her behavior and treat Lucy with the respect and kindness she deserved. Lucy was happy to see the change in Eve and was grateful for the opportunity to teach her a valuable lesson.
