A sermon at church can sometimes be lengthy and tedious, leading even the most devoted followers to drift off to sleep. Such was the case for a woman who attended a church service with her husband. As the sermon dragged on, she eventually succumbed to exhaustion and fell asleep.
Her husband, noticing her slumber, attempted to gently rouse her with a nudge. Unfortunately, this coincided with the priest asking the congregation a question about the Israelites’ journey to freedom from slavery in Egypt. Startled awake, the woman exclaimed, “The Almighty!” before quickly dozing off again.
Later in the sermon, the priest posed another question, asking about the individual who had sacrificed for the forgiveness of sins. This time, the woman responded firmly, “Jesus Christ!” before continuing to sleep. Despite her husband’s attempts to wake her, she remained annoyed and somewhat disoriented.
The woman’s reactions became increasingly amusing as the sermon progressed. When the priest asked about Eve’s words to Adam after the birth of their last child, she responded irritably, “I swear, if you touch me with that again, I’ll snap it in half.” The congregation was undoubtedly entertained by the woman’s candid reactions, which added a touch of humor to the otherwise solemn church service.
