In a shocking display of cruelty, a kitten was thrown from a moving vehicle in Harrisonburg, Virginia. But fate had other plans for this little ball of fluff. Thanks to the kindness of strangers and the compassion of a police officer, the kitten found a loving home and a new lease on life.
The ordeal began when a witness saw the kitten being tossed from a car. Unable to keep the kitten themselves, they took the kitten home, bathed it, and contacted the authorities. Officer Timothy Rugg from the Harrisonburg Police Department responded to the call and agreed to take the kitten to the local SPCA.
However, as soon as Officer Rugg picked up the kitten, something special happened. The kitten snuggled up to him, purring contentedly, and refused to leave his side. It was as if the kitten had found its soulmate in Officer Rugg.
When they arrived at the SPCA, the kitten’s behavior only reinforced Officer Rugg’s decision to adopt her. The shelter was almost full, and the kitten seemed to sense that she had found her forever home with Officer Rugg.
“I just felt like she wanted to be with me,” Officer Rugg explained. “I thought I was a dog person, but we just kind of bonded immediately, and I just knew I had to take her with me.”
Officer Rugg adopted the kitten, naming her Charlie, and completed a foster application. Today, Charlie is an integral part of Officer Rugg’s life, bringing joy and companionship to his daily routine.
Charlie’s presence has also had a profound impact on Officer Rugg’s work. As a crime-fighting duo, Officer Rugg and Charlie are unstoppable. Charlie’s favorite job is surveillance from Officer Rugg’s shoulder, and she takes her responsibilities very seriously.
The Harrisonburg Police Department is thrilled to have Charlie on board, and they’re grateful for Officer Rugg’s compassion and kindness. As they said, “We are grateful for all of our officers and their willingness to answer every kind of call, day in and day out, and adapt to all kinds of situations…even fluffy ones with whiskers.”
